What is a cameo Pokémon card?
A cameo card is a Pokémon TCG card where a Pokémon appears in the background of anothercard's artwork. The card is about a different Pokémon, a Trainer or a place, and the cameo is hidden in the scene: a Pikachu in a crowd, a Wingull in the sky, a plush toy on a shelf.
There are 2,235 cameo cards across 245 sets so far, with 854 different Pokémon making an appearance.
How to spot one
- Busy scenes hide the most. Crowds, shops, towns and festivals leave room for extra Pokémon.
- Full art and illustration rares often tuck Pokémon into the edges of a wide scene.
- Look for small details: posters, plush toys, reflections and silhouettes count too.

Cameo card questions
- What is a cameo Pokémon card?
- A cameo card is a Pokémon TCG card where a Pokémon shows up in the artwork of a card that is about something else, like a Pikachu in the crowd behind a Trainer or a Wingull flying over a Stadium.
- How many cameo cards are there?
- PokéCameos lists 2,235 cards with cameos across 245 sets, covering 854 different Pokémon.
- Which Pokémon has the most cameos?
- Pikachu has the most, with cameos on 173 cards.
- Are cameo cards worth more?
- Not usually. A cameo is not a separate rarity, so price depends on the card itself. Collectors still hunt them, so a cameo of a popular Pokémon can make a cheap card more wanted.
- Do Japanese cards have cameos too?
- Yes. Japanese releases are included, and every list has an EN / JP toggle to filter them.
